June 29, 2016 – On Wednesday, June 29th, six Mankato businesses received Dementia Friendly @ Work educational session presented by Mankato/North Mankato ACT on Alzheimer’s volunteers. This one-hour training helps local organizations heighten their awareness of dementia and take action to create an environment that is safe, respectful, and welcoming for people living with dementia and their families.
Representatives from Goodwin Consulting, Friesen’s Bakery, MRCI, The Wine Cafe, Mom & Pop’s and the Coffee Hag completed the Dementia Friendly @ Work session. The training focused on how to recognize the signs of dementia, tips for communicating and interacting with a person who has dementia, how to create a dementia-friendly space, and available resources in Mankato/North Mankato.
